Working from the Influence of Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele holds a special place of inspiration for me. In this 3 session workshop, students will explore the influence of his work through my experience of learning from him. Poses and themes will be strongly directed towards Schiele’s methods of composing and formal elements. It is through this experience that participants will learn how to emulate an artist of the past to strengthen their own vision.

We will be working with a live model and photo references for both short and long poses. I will be working in pastel and charcoal but students are welcomed to use the medium of their choice.

Each session is 2 hours from 2 to 4 pm EST via Zoom. I will be recording the sessions for later reference but do encourage students to be as present as possible during class and not depend too much on the recordings. Group dynamics and a sense of community is of importance and I feel this sometimes gets lost within the virtual world.

One week prior to our first session I will invite you to join a informal meet and greet via Zoom at 2pm EST to go over in more detail materials and concepts about the workshop that are important. This session will be recorded if you can't attend.
